Volunteering
Cornerstone Christian Academy recognizes that the Lord has gifted students in many ways. Our extracurricular activities serve to help students realize their God-given gifts and talents in areas such as sports, band, and various clubs. Students are given opportunities and encouragement to volunteer in various ways to serve our community.
Students involved in extracurricular activities receive the benefits of exercise and creative outlets. Multiple studies have been performed, and the results are a lot more influential than initially understood. At Cornerstone Christian Academy, we strive to provide a place for each individual to fit and feel a part of their community. Through extracurriculars such as sports, clubs, and music, we encourage our students to invest and be a part of something much bigger than themselves.
The purpose of the athletic program at Cornerstone Christian Academy is to provide students a setting to glorify God through the development and exercise of personal character, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and athletic ability. Student-athletes are encouraged to do their best and to learn the vital life skill of being a team player. In victory or defeat, students are taught to demonstrate both grace and dignity.
Cornerstone is a member of the Alabama Christian Athletic Association.
Our 7th-12th graders are divided into four permanent houses that they are members of for their high school careers. These houses (Ravenwood, House of Elisha, The Potter’s House, and House of Zion) each uniquely foster mentoring relationships between older and younger students, promote school spirit, and encourage competition. Academics, participation in extracurricular activities, personal achievement, and outstanding character award House Points that determine the winner of the House Cup at the end of our year-round competition. Three times a year we hold house games and compete in various areas. Houses are an integral part of Cornerstone culture. "Houses are family!"
Band
Cornerstone Christian Academy Band participates in the Alabama State Musical Performance Assessment competition. The band members prepare three pieces to showcase their musical abilities while at MPA.
The band travels to Gadsden City High School to compete in MPA's every February. Each year the CCA Band has been awarded all Superior ratings! MPA judges in many different areas, such as the execution of the selected pieces, playing in tune and playing with the right balance. Plus, the band has sight-read a piece of music. Congratulations to the concert band, and good luck with preparing for your future concerts.
